# Key-Locking Inserts · Selection notes

After the solid insert is screwed into position, its pre-installed keys are driven into the parent material to secure it mechanically.

## How it works

Key-locking inserts have internal and external threads. The outer thread engages the parent material and the inner thread accepts the screw. The keys are driven after positioning. Key quantity and installation requirements depend on the model; dimensions and load capacity cannot be inferred from appearance.

## Selection guidance

- Space and edge distance：Insert outside diameter, hole depth and surrounding material allowance.
- Parent-material conditions：Specify material, hardness and any required pretreatment.
- Key structure：Confirm key quantity, dimensions and installation tools.
- Internal thread type：Distinguish free-running internal threads from screw-locking types.

## Installation overview

1. Prepare the installation hole：Drill and tap for the external thread and inspect the entry.
2. Install the insert：Position the insert at the specified installation depth.
3. Drive the locking keys：Use the specified tool to drive the keys according to the approved process.
4. Inspect retention：Inspect key position, internal thread and surrounding material.

Actual dimensions, performance and installation must follow the approved drawings and technical agreement.
